Founded in 2005, Jajah’s primary service provided web-activated telephony, using VoIP to connect traditional phones (landline or mobile). Calls were made without download or installs and were either free or at low rates.

Jajah was backed by Intel Capital and Deutsche Telekom and was the first investment of Sequoia Capital in Europe.

The company was acquired by Telefonica in 2009 for $ 207 million to strengthen their internal technology stack.
